Little Amelie has been developing a real interest in food. She will watch us intently while we eat, drool, and even mimic us chewing our food. I’m not sure how long I can put off introducing solids to her. While part of me thinks that we should let her try a little rice cereal while she is interested, part of me want her to be a baby a little longer.
Time seems to zoom past so fast.
Amelie is now 7 kg and 62 cm at 4.5 months. At our consultation with Dr Ong, I was struck by how my little Amelie is now an older baby, no longer the helpless infant. She has her own likes and dislikes, her unique cries and babble, her individual style of sleeping, her baby smell… But all these signs of maturity are pretty subtle when compared to this.
Her wanting to eat makes her seem just so… grown up!
Is this the start of her growing independence away from me? She’s not going to rely on me for sustenance anymore? Is she going to start making her own decisions (without me)? Is she going to want her own space (without me)? Is she going to make her own friends (without me)? Is she going to move out (without me)? Does she not need me anymore?? WAIL!!!
Just 2 years ago, I couldn’t wait for Estelle to start solids. I think I started at about 4.5 months as well…
The eagerness with the first baby is at such contrast with this heavy reluctance I feel now.
As I remarked with the good doctor, with the first one, you can’t wait for her to achieve all the milestones, but with the second, you just wanna hang on to the little things that makes them your baby.
I think the day Amelie walks without help will be the day I break down and cry.
sniffle.
Here is a 4 month old baby trying to amuse herself…
Peek…

a…

boo!

Hahahaha!!!
Brought Amelie down to the reservior with us this morning. And the first thing she did on reaching the nature reserve? A massive poo. Nice! Hahaha. But hey, a baby’s gotta do what a baby’s gotta do!
Was randomly taking photos of my girls while sitting outside MyGym waiting for Estelle’s class to start. It just happened that I managed to get these two photos…

I’m resisting the urge to dig up Estelle’s baby photos so that I could place them side by side.
Anyway, I’ll leave you with more disturbing photos of Amelie’s determination to develop stomach abs.

Amelie’s FOUR months already.

She’s busy exploring her world… by putting whatever she can into her mouth! It’s pretty amazing how fast she can direct objects around her straight into this sensory organ.
She’s also showing a VERY keen interest in food. She loves to sit on our laps during meal times so that she can feast her eyes (and maybe her imagination). I’m planning to introduce food (read: mush) to her when she is 6 months. But it looks like she might just be like Estelle and demand to have a taste of solids earlier. We’ll see…
Movement-wise, she can wriggle quite a distance and turn about 90 degrees. So it’s danger alert!
And lastly… it looks like she’s turning out to be a strong contender when it comes to being heard, adding to the music in the family. hahaha.
It’s Ethan’s 3rd birthday… SSAY bought a brownie cake from Polar to the delight of the kids.

Here’s Ethan giving Amelie a little kiss. He has a soft spot for the baby and likes to stroke her and touch her gently. So sweet…
Anyway, check out what Amelie is really staring at…

And staring at…

And staring at…

And staring at…

It MUST be the candles…
Hohoho!

What are we waiting for? Let’s go!!!

Cool!

I think I like this!

Amelie loved it! She kicked and she splashed. And she did not whimper a single time! Yay!
