Another lovely swim session at Warren… Amelie spent ages trying to catch the little squirt of water. It was so amazing to see her reaching for it, only to find that she cannot grasp it. Yet she doesn’t give up. She tried again and again. Her perserverance is pretty impressive, the same way she tries to walk, the same way she tries to do all the things she sees Estelle doing. So many things for a little baby to learn… and with such life and vivacity.
Enjoying a day at the pool with my darling Amelie…

After a 20 minute swim, I thought that perhaps I shouldn’t push it, and end the experience on a high note… So, off she goes to get cleaned up and dressed… while Estelle and Ethan still romp about at the pool… This is what Amelie had to say about it…

In case you missed that sulk… here it is again…

Yes, she SULKED. No smile from Amelie, no matter what tricks I pulled. No funny faces, no silly noises, no tickles. Nothing.
Until Ah ma felt sorry for her… and brought her for a little dippy dip.

Can you see her eagerness, wriggling so hard Ah ma had to hold on really tight?
And here’s the winning look…

Looks like our future family vacations will be by the sea!!! Yipeee…
Amelie’s attention to detail is pretty amazing. She like to feel the different materials of the objects around her (she loves the touch and feel board books) and she loves to touch shiny objects (necklaces become nooses for those who are carrying her). She enjoys different colours, patterns and designs.
Here she is taking the time to check out SSAY’s nails and cool shiny ring… hmm…

Well, here’s Boomer having his little bit of fun. He does love the girls so…
The new starlet to hit town!

Little Amelie has been developing a real interest in food. She will watch us intently while we eat, drool, and even mimic us chewing our food. I’m not sure how long I can put off introducing solids to her. While part of me thinks that we should let her try a little rice cereal while she is interested, part of me want her to be a baby a little longer.
Time seems to zoom past so fast.
Amelie is now 7 kg and 62 cm at 4.5 months. At our consultation with Dr Ong, I was struck by how my little Amelie is now an older baby, no longer the helpless infant. She has her own likes and dislikes, her unique cries and babble, her individual style of sleeping, her baby smell… But all these signs of maturity are pretty subtle when compared to this.
Her wanting to eat makes her seem just so… grown up!
Is this the start of her growing independence away from me? She’s not going to rely on me for sustenance anymore? Is she going to start making her own decisions (without me)? Is she going to want her own space (without me)? Is she going to make her own friends (without me)? Is she going to move out (without me)? Does she not need me anymore?? WAIL!!!
Just 2 years ago, I couldn’t wait for Estelle to start solids. I think I started at about 4.5 months as well…
The eagerness with the first baby is at such contrast with this heavy reluctance I feel now.
As I remarked with the good doctor, with the first one, you can’t wait for her to achieve all the milestones, but with the second, you just wanna hang on to the little things that makes them your baby.
I think the day Amelie walks without help will be the day I break down and cry.
sniffle.
Here is a 4 month old baby trying to amuse herself…
Peek…

a…

boo!

Hahahaha!!!
Brought Amelie down to the reservior with us this morning. And the first thing she did on reaching the nature reserve? A massive poo. Nice! Hahaha. But hey, a baby’s gotta do what a baby’s gotta do!
